Coliban Water requires backflow devices to be fitted to potable water supplies as well as fire services for all commercial properties.

Backflow devices are designed to protect your water supply from any kind of contamination which occurs either biologically or chemically when water from one area in your complex is back fed into your main water supply. This can be very dangerous, if chemicals where to be fed back into the main, this can be deadly. Backflow devices can be used in many different areas to protect your water supply from contamination.

Although only devices on the meter & fire service are Compulsory as far as Coliban Water are concerned, we do recommend that you think about other devices throughout your complex as per Australian Standard 3500.

We can carry out a professional inspection of your complex, access the type of containment devices that you require and supply and install them as requested as we are suitably licensed to do so.

With summer on our doorstep, chilled water is a refreshing change to tap water, but we also still require our cups of tea and coffee all day long. Now you can have both by just installing the one combination Boiling/Chilled Water Unit.

There are two types of wastewater created in a home, each of which can be treated and used in various ways.

Blackwater is water that has been mixed with waste from the toilet. Blackwater requires biological or chemical treatment and disinfection before re-use. Black water should only be re-used outdoors. Blackwater is treated through the use of Treatment Plants and Septic Systems.

Greywater is wastewater from non-toilet plumbing fixtures such as showers, basins and taps. Depending on its use, greywater can require less treatment than blackwater and generally contains fewer pathogens. Treated greywater can be re-used indoors for toilet flushing and clothes washing, both of which are significant consumers of water. Greywater can also be used for garden watering.
